We went 2 times in the few days we were in Barcelona and had a fabulous experience. Would go back weekly if we lived there. Great food and service. Where locals go.

On our trip to Barcelona, we ate at many different places over our two week stay. But the best experience yet was at Can Boneta. If you read my other Barcelona reviews, you might find that I was often greatly disappointed in these "highly recommended" restaurants we tried on our trip. Places that received mentions in blogs or had high ratings in online reviews like Yelp and others. They always turned out to be expensive and mediocre. Can Boneta was the exception. We went for lunch, which is considered the "largest" meal of the 5 meal day (largest meaning, this is where you fill up for the day). And like many restaurants in Barcelona, they offer what is know as "Menú del día". This is the only thing that is offered, and on this day there was only 2 choices (brilliant idea). We had both, duck, eggplant and BBQ pork & cod with potatoes in cream sauce. The cod was absolutely amazing, the cream sauce was the star of the show, but it didn't detract from the tender flaky cod in any way. The duck was great, and in any other situation, might have been the spotlight meal, but next to the cod, it's brilliance felt dimmed. They fill up with reservations every day, but sometimes you can score a walk-in. Still, I would reserve a table, what they give the walk-ins is not the greatest seats. This was one recommendation that did not disappoint.

Wow. I am so glad I found this gem of a restaurant. One of the best meals I have had in Barcelona so far. Very unassuming, intimate, homey feel. Our table was reserved with my name on it which i thought was a classy touch. The owner and one of the chefs came over and asked us if he could give us suggestions so of course we said yes. Turns out the dishes he recommended were the ones I had my eye on to begin with. 1) the aubergine tartare with sardines: this was fantastic. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and seasoned with garlic and oil. And the sardines were so tasty. There was just a touch of sea salt which really brought the dish together. 2) the prawn ravioli: i have never had something like this before. The texture was so buttery and it was seasoned so welll. I loved the pistachios that came with it. I could have eaten like 8 of them. 3) the truffle "bikini" sandwich: this was just solid. Very simple. But good bread, good cheese, and good truffle. I wish it was a bit hotter and i like my bread more toasted but it was still good. 4) the octopus: the smell already made me excited for this one. It was so good. The texture of the octopus was just right. I thought it was in a sea of melted cheese but it turns out that butter and potatoes is a good mimic. I felt it was a bit heavy and a touch salty but still overall delicious. 5) the pork rib "casserole": so fyi none of the dishes are really casseroles in this section. Think of them more like bigger tapas. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce and the seasoning were delicious. It wasn't to my personal preference as much as the preceding tapas but that's totally subjective on my part. Zero complaints. Except that i wish they gave more of the eggplant side of that dish because it was so good. 6) chocolate, oil, and salt: I had heard that this was a traditional desert of Barcelona and wanted to try it. It is a sea of chocolate and crushed cookie flakes with a ball of olive oil ice cream in the middle. I thought the flavors blended really well together, the chocolate was tasty, and the olive oil ice cream was unique and good. I felt like i was in someone's home and it was a wonderful dining experience. The chef, Joan, was such a kind man and I would 100% go back here again and again. A memorable experience.

If you are in Barcelona ( and I intend to keep on coming) do not miss this spot in the Example beautiful hood. Place yourself in the hands of the unassuming owner who will " tell" you what you will eat from a prix fixe menu. Delicious tapas and a veal with mushrooms to be enjoyed with a good Rioja. Melon with Cointreau for desert! Joder !

You definitely want to have a reservation either for lunch or dinner. Somehow our reservation got lost and they were pretty upset with us about it, but they sat us anyway. It was clear they were mad about it. That said, the food was excellent. The lunch tasting menu was really good, and it was so much food we couldn't eat it all. It's a really small, intimate restaurant with many regulars. Just make sure to make your reservation and confirm it before you go!!

Amazing place, suuuuper authentic:) the owner and chef Mr Boneta works his butt off in the kitchen and then comes out to visit with each table to make sure all is good. LOVED : red prawns ravioli (not pasta at all, just shaped like ravioli design) light and delicious. Octopus was sooo good but a bit too much oil for me, so I dipped them out and enjoyed. The Catalan bread is a must. And the chocolate soufflé (xocolat coulant) amazing.

An exquisite restaurant that we were brought to on FoodLover tour - the ambience was intimate and casual - seems only local come here The chef is a former architect and his dishes show the precision of his former trade. My absolute favorite dish was the octopus over creamy mashed potatoes. The perfect texture / cook on octupus - amazing mashed potatoes to finish off. Please eat here!
